About Scheduling bricks
No data-source is the same. To give the flexibility of configuring sources and flows to the customer the Raven Portal offers scheduling.
Reasons for scheduling#
Depending on the data source there can be various reasons why scheduling is a good idea. For example:
- data availability
- saving on resources
In the backend of the Raven Portal bricks can be started and multiplied depending on the number of events waiting in the queue. They perform their tasks a-synchronously as fast as possible. They will scale to balance the workload.
How to configure scheduling#
Scheduling is configured by the brick's inspector.
When a brick has a schedule it will display a little clock behind the brick's name.
In the Raven Portal click on flows in the left-side menu. This will show all available flows. Find the flow that holds the brick you want to configure the scheduling for and click it.
In the flow select the brick you want to inspect by clicking on it and then click on inspect, a button that appears in the menu above the flow-window. A new window will appear on top of the flow: the brick inspector.
In the inpector select the schedule tab and configure your desired schedule.
The best configuration for a brick depends on the source. To learn more about a specific brick's configuration settings visit the
Helpsection for the brick in the brick'sinspector. When in doubt use the standard settings for the brick's scheduling.
There are various types of scheduling available in the Raven Portal:
Keeping an eye on the flow#
Scheduling bricks often need some fine tuning, and when you think it all works the amount of data can change. It is wise to every once in a while check your bricks status with the brick inspector.
When a brick is selected from a flow the tab on the right side a menu will show information about the brick. When the brick has a schedule enabled it will display the details for the schedule.
