What are Data Policies

Data policies are crucial for defining and enforcing rules around data compliance and retention periods. By setting these policies, you can control how long data is stored, ensure compliance with regulations, and protect sensitive information, all while upholding organizational integrity.

Data Policies Overview

The main interface of the data policies section displays a complete list of all data policies previously created for a user's specific Raven instance.

Each entry outlines the following key details:

  • Name & ID: The unique identifier and descriptive name of each policy for easy reference.
  • Description: A brief overview of the policy’s purpose and the specific data it governs, if provided on creation.
  • Retention Time: The designated duration for which the data will be stored before it is deleted.

For each listed policy, a three-dot button is located at the far right corner. This button allows the user to edit or delete the policy if it is no longer required, offering flexibility in managing data governance.

Creating a Data Policy

To establish a new data policy, simply click the New Policy button situated at the top right corner of the main interface. This action will open a popup prompting the user to input the necessary information for the policy, with the following fields:

  • Name: Assign a distinctive name to the policy for easy identification.
  • Description: Provide a detailed description that clarifies the intent and scope of the policy.
  • Retention Time: Specify the duration for which data governed by this policy will be retained.

After completing all the required fields, click the Create button at the bottom of the popup.

This completes the creation of a new data policy, enhancing the organization’s data management and compliance capabilities.
